Good news for U.S. citizens planning a trip to Morocco! You generally do not need a visa for short stays, typically up to 90 days, if you’re traveling for tourism or busines.

However, there are a few important entry requirements to keep in mind to ensure a smooth trip:
- Passport Validity Your passport should be undamaged and valid for at least six months from your expected date of exit from Morocco.
Some sources also suggest it needs to be valid for the entire duration of your stay
It’s always best practice to have at least six months of validity - Blank Passport Pages You’ll need at least one blank page in your passport for an entry stamp
- Return or Onward Ticket You may be asked to show proof of a return or onward ticket from Morocco
- Proof of Funds Be prepared to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to financially support yourself during your stay
- Purpose of Stay Documentation It’s a good idea to have documentation supporting the purpose of your visit, such as accommodation bookings or tour reservations
While U.S. citizens are currently visa-exempt for short stays, Morocco did launch an e-Visa system in July 2022, and an Electronic Travel Authorization (AEVM) is also in place for some visa-exempt nationals and is expected to apply to all visa-exempt countries in the future
For now, though, for typical tourist and business trips of under 90 days, a visa isn’t required for U.S. citizens
If you plan to stay longer than 90 days, you would need a visa
and it’s possible to request an extension for an additional 90 days at the nearest police station in Morocco
Always remember that these requirements can change, so it’s a good idea to confirm the latest information with the relevant embassies or consulates before your travel
